Was halten Sie vom Tod der Wilma Montesi?

October 1977 •German

The life and death of the fictional star Wilma Montesi is reported in the form of a staged newsreel. Excerpts from films of various genres and eras are juxtaposed with "documentary material" about the star's public and private life. By stringing together clichés and cinematic quotations, a certain reporting and narrative style about the glamor and misery of show business is presented in a critical and ironic, but at the same time entertaining way.

False Creek Stories

October 2010 •English

This is False Creek, perhaps an insignificant point on a map. Its happenings won't splash across the front page of your morning newspaper, but the daily affairs of this little neighborhood are the main headlines to the people that live here. Their source for these stories is Bill, a wheelchair bound man with paraplegia who devotes his time and ambition to seek out those local chronicles that his neighbors so desire. But with Bill's responsibility to entertain comes certain jealousy from Igor, who thinks he's better suited for the job. And from Doug, who just craves the respect it brings. Today, dressed with a shirt he found in the free-box, and with hope in his heart, Doug sets out to gain that respect.

Crash!

February 1971 •English

Short film produced by the BBC about JG Ballard's Crash. “The film was a product of the most experimental, darkest phase of Ballard’s career. It was an era of psychological blowback from the sudden, shocking death of his wife in 1964, an era that had produced the cut-up ‘condensed novels’ of Atrocity plus a series of strange collages and ‘advertisers’ announcements. After Freud’s exploration within the psyche it is now the outer world of reality which must be quantified and eroticised. Later there were further literary experiments, concrete poems and ‘impressionistic’ film reviews, and an aborted multimedia theatrical play based around car crashes. After that came an actual gallery exhibition of crashed cars, replete with strippers and the drunken destruction of the ‘exhibits’ by an enraged audience.” (from: http://aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.blogspot.de/2013/01/short-film-adaptation-of-jg-ballards.html)
