Revival

July 2007 •English

Like a spark that ignites the grasslands, revival seems to come from nowhere and spreads across the wastelands of the human heart; it buns away the hulls and stubble, and come spring, new life sprouts from the charred waste! Songs of revival are the most exciting of all. They have energy. They have power to move us to tears and make us shout for the sheer joy of being truly alive. This Gaither Homecoming video will recall for the times when God's presence invaded your dry places and suddenly you knew 'resurrection' was more than just a word.

Red Rocks Homecoming

September 2003 •English

It's been the scene of concerts by the Clash, U2, the Dave Matthews Band, and many other secular musical acts, so the natural outdoor amphitheatre of Colorado's Red Rocks was perhaps overdue a visit from the prolific and decidedly non-secular Gaither Family, whose HOMECOMING series has been a fixture of both the Christian movement and the Billboard charts for many years. Their Red Rocks foray follows the form of the classic Gaither manifestation-the family hosts performances by longtime favorites such as Wesley Pritchard, whose "I Never Shall Forget the Day" is a particular highlight, and Donnie Sumner, who contributes a delicate, moving "The Anchor Holds." As a celebration of traditional religious values, the HOMECOMING series is perhaps unequalled in contemporary worship music. RED ROCKS HOMECOMING is a fine example of the Gaither Family and its satellite members doing what they do best--singing simple, unadorned, traditional songs of praise.

When All God's Singers Get Home

January 1996 •English

From Father Abraham to John the Revelator, from the first century church to this moment, the people of God have always seen themselves as pilgrims — never settlers. "This world is not my home, I'm just a passing through" is more than a line from an old song. This sojourner's theme has been told to children in stories, sent in letters of encouragement to friends, preached from pulpits and whispered behind the closed doors of the underground church in times of persecution. But mostly, it's been sung. When kings were unjust, they sang of a kingdom whose builder and ruler was God. When the world seemd like a foreign country and when the strange language of power and materialism was the accepted tongue, these pilgrims reminded each other that they were natives of a far better place to which they were traveling. When they were separated, estranged or lonely, they sang of a great homecoming when all the singers would one day be together around their Father's throne.
