OverView

In the summer of 2016, Henrik Stenson won a golf major, something no Swedish male golf player had ever done (Annika Sörenstam has won plenty of course). The nerve-killing duel with Phil Mickelson at Royal Troon in the Open Championship 2016 is already a golf classics, and when expert Göran Zachrisson, who had been in place at 50 British Open openings, saw his countryman win he could not hold back the tears. Now the golfer and expert have met again to relive the magic moment. At a cinema in Gothenburg, they go through the last round battle for battle. It offers beautiful anecdotes, but is also serious - when Stenson tells how he played for his friend who died just days before Stenson went to the first round of Royal Troon. The film also travels back to Royal Troon, to meet those who were behind the scenes on the historic day. Stenson looks forward to the British Open 2017, hoping for a new victory.

A Dangerous Game

May 2014 •English

In this sequel to the award-winning You’ve Been Trumped, director Anthony Baxter once again follows American billionaire Donald Trump and a cast of other greedy characters who want to turn some of the Earth’s most precious places into golf courses and playgrounds for the super rich. From the historic site of Dubrovnik to the ancient sand dunes and rolling green hills of the seaside town of Balmedie, these tycoons bully local residents, influence governments, ignore local referendums and even meddle in national environmental policies to acquire their latest trophies. With in-depth interviews and Baxter’s expert storytelling, we learn just how devastating these golf courses can be to the surrounding countryside and water tables. In this funny, inspiring and at times heartbreaking David and Goliath story for the 21st century, the locals don’t give in easily. But will their fight be enough to protect their land and traditional way of life?

June 17th, 1994

June 2010 •English

Do you remember where you were on June 17, 1994? Thanks to a wide array of unrelated, coast-to-coast occurrences, this Friday has come to be known for its firsts, lasts, triumphs and tragedy. Arnold Palmer played his last round at a U.S. Open, in Oakmont, PA, the FIFA World Cup kicked off in Chicago, the New York Rangers celebrated on Broadway, Patrick Ewing desperately pursued a long evasive championship in Madison Garden and Donald Fehr stared down the baseball owners. And yet, all of that was a prelude to O.J. Simpson leading America on a slow speed chase in a white Ford Bronco around Los Angeles.

The Golf War

January 2000 •English

A Philippine government plan to transform ancestral farmland into a tourist resort sparks a dramatic conflict when villagers actively resist the development. As peasants and fisherfolk organize to stop the golf courses and yacht marinas, their seaside community called Hacienda Looc becomes a violent flashpoint in a larger, national battle over land and revolution. THE GOLF WAR is a provocative portrait of one community's fight for survival against forces of economic 'development', contrasted with views of developers, bureaucrats, and golf boosters in the Philippines, including Tiger Woods.
