Shobha lives a poor lifestyle along with her widower dad, Murari, in a village. One day a gypsy, Mangal, comes to her rescue when she is being chased by a bull, both continue to meet and fall in love with each other. Shortly thereafter she is abducted and taken to a man named Dildaar. Before she gets molested, she is rescued by Mangal, returns home to find that her father has passed away. When she refuses to marry Lalaji, he spreads rumors about her, and the villagers subsequently disown and blacklist her. She decides to go and live with Mangal, who is the son of Sardar Babbar, at the gypsy camp, but Mangal refuses to have to do anything with her. Subsequently Mangal returns to Shobha, apologizes, and both patch-up. Then Shobha's life is shattered when she comes across evidence that it was actually Mangal who abducted her, while Mangal himself faces many challenges and may even be killed for betraying his people.

One day Shanker decides to leave and takes Mohan with him, leaving a pregnant Durga alone. Years go by, both Mohan and Ajay have grown up. Mohan and Shanker operate a crime syndicate, partnering with Keshavlal, a notorious gangster. Ajay operates a publicatin called Karmayogi, in which he publishes news and information about crime and criminals, and does an expose on Keshavlal. Mohan and Shanker want a bigger stake in the share, which Keshav agrees to, but arranges for Shanker to get killed, and blames it on Ajay. When Shanker is killed, Mohan swears to avenge his father's death and begins the trek of locating and killing Ajay.

Rivalry has existed between Ranimaa and a small and hostile community. The passage of time has only widened the gap between the two. When Ranimaa's heir apparent, Seema, attempts to make peace, she is severely reprimanded by Ranimaa. Then Seema meets with Ajay Jain and both fall in love. When Ranimaa finds out about this, she indicates her disapproval of Ajay. Seema, however, is adamant about this, and will only marry Ajay, and wants peace between the two communities. Finally, Ranimaa agrees to make peace with the tribe, only to be blackmailed by Manghu, who knows that Ranimaa's had a questionable past, a past so terrible that she will kill anyone who will dare to reveal it.
